In Greek mythology, the phoenix was a bird that would continually rise from its ashes. It has come to symbolize rebirth, perseverance, and immortality. When someone battles back from the brink of defeat to not only survive but to thrive, they are said to be carrying on the spirit of the phoenix.
This is precisely what White Point Beach Resort is doing. After losing its historic Main Lodge to a devastating fire in 2011, this Nova Scotia landmark had rebuilt a new Main Lodge in less than seven months. Preserving the spirit of its predecessor with historic images throughout the Lodge, the crew improved upon the original with a seven million-dollar Main Lodge that showcases Nova Scotia craftsmanship, outstanding accommodations, and ocean views.
Operating year round for almost a century, White Point is Nova Scotia’s oldest and most popular privately owned, oceanfront beach resort. So, after the fire, there were plenty of loyal guests and new visitors who were willing to help with the Main Lodge’s new design. The resort and the community came together to create a unique lodge that celebrates the region’s craftsmanship and artistry.
“White Point has been a vacation destination since 1928,” White Point Beach Resort Owner Robert Risley said. “While the fire was devastating to us all, our Nova Scotia-inspired and crafted Main Lodge is a testament to the quality workmanship and artists of our province. It is the Lodge that Nova Scotia built.”
Using a local construction team and Nova Scotia materials, the crew built a Main Lodge that is truly unique to their province. The interior is every bit as Nova Scotian, as the decor was carefully handpicked from shops and artist studios across the province. With a bar made from century-old timbers and colorful chairs purchased locally from LakeCity Woodworkers, the new Main Lodge celebrates the region.
The Main Lodge isn’t the only thing that received a renovation. A one million-dollar property-wide accommodation refresh ensures a comfortable stay for every visitor. Sweeping beach views, cozy fireplaces, flat-screen televisions, and more highlight your stay. With so many improvements and the same cozy spirit, news of the new-and-improved Lodge is spreading.
“Since reopening our doors, White Pointers from around the world have been enjoying the new Lodge, its uniquely Nova Scotian features, and - of course - our oceanside views,” White Point Beach Resort General Manager Joanne Veinotte said. “They are telling their friends and family, who are returning to the beach again.”
This long-awaited return gives guests the choice to stay in one- to eight-bedroom cottages, guestrooms, and vacation homes. When you’re not in your room, this RCI Gold Crown property provides beach activities, Atlantic Ocean adventures, and a host of outdoor excursions.
With eight million dollars in renovations, White Point Beach Resort has added a new Main Lodge to Nova Scotia’s main attraction.
