When you think of New York, you probably think of the lights and the glamour, and, above all else, the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s called “The City that Never Sleeps” for a reason. But just a few hours outside of New York City is a resort that will utterly change your perception of what New York can be; a Cooperstown inn that will invigorate both body and spirit. Come for the relaxation, stay for the incredible food, the landscape and the people. It's B & B Ranch in Fly Creek.
Any stay at B & B Ranch comes complete with breakfast and dinner - so worries are far fewer. As a first-class bed and breakfast, your accommodations are covered. But home-cooked meals are also included and they're farm-fresh. Every booking includes both breakfast and the legendary dinners for which the Ranch is famous.
Uniquely outfitted rooms are each equipped with luxury hotel bedding and linens, yet each is completely different, and repeat guests almost always have a preferred room. Owner Jim Giombetti has seen guests arriving unsure from all over the country. And many leave raring to return. "We have guests in from the entire Northeast,” he says, “and now quite a few from the West Coast and just about everywhere in between. It's seems at first like a small country inn, but once you're here there's so much room that every guest enjoy a totally private, and even resort-like experience."
All rooms are incredibly luxurious, but if you’re looking for the pinnacle of New York-style opulence, you’ll want to reserve the Master Suite. Featuring a wet bar, fireplace, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves (and books), a private terrace, and an enormous bath with Jacuzzi and shower, you’ll feel like royalty the moment you arrive. Your king-sized bed is covered in 800-thread-count Egyptian cotton duvets, so soft that waking up is just the reward for a truly satisfying night's sleep. Amenities include leather chairs, ottomans, a writing desk, a 46" Hi-Def TV, and, of course, high-speed wireless internet.
After a reassuring night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast, a whole world of possibilities lies before you. Year round, guests take to the indoor swimming pool. In the off season, the hot tub gets a bit more use. But if you can only do one thing, make sure you experience the “ranch” part of B & B Ranch. Free riding lessons are part of any stay of four nights or more and are conducted either in the indoor riding arena or outdoors in one of the paddocks. After you’ve mastered the basics, head out on the more than 350 acres of meadows and woods for some unadulterated adventure.
Finally, when you return, prepare your taste buds (and your tummy) for B & B Ranch's legendary five-course dinner. Famous Italian anti-pasti is usually part of the starter, but the inn is perhaps best known for the homemade pasta. Served with Piedmontese beef pasta sauce, you’ll be asking for A) the recipe and B) second and third helpings. Jim Giombetti thinks the dinners are what really makes the B & B Ranch stand out from other Cooperstown lodgings. "We operate a really over-the-top luxury hotel, but there's no pretense and no stuffiness,” he says. “Guests are free to enjoy the property and the farm, and they keep coming back because the service is outstanding, everyone gets a tour upon arrival, and the food is excellent. There just aren't a lot of other places serving homemade pasta."
If you’re looking for a country resort with all the trimmings of a five-star city hotel, look no further. B & B Ranch has been bringing couples, families, and friends closer together since 2012. They'll be happy to have you in.
