From Miami International Airport, follow the signs to FL-112 East toward 1-95 North/Miami Beach. Merge and follow for about four miles. Merge onto 1-95 North/FL-9A North via the exit on the left toward Fort Lauderdale and continue heading north for seven miles. Take the SR-826 East exit (Exit 12B). Continue east for about five miles. Make a slight left onto Collins Avenue heading north. Acqualina will be on the east side of Collins Avenue.

We thought that a resort that bills itself as the ultimate Miami attraction would probably be a good spot to check out. We were right. Even more than its impressive tower and landscapes, Trump International Beach Resort is equally spectacular no matter what kind of beach vacation you’re after.

In some ways, Trump International is its own world. There’s upscale shopping and an art gallery on site, along with a nightclub and gourmet dining at Neomi’s. You might have expected this: a Miami hotel that invokes the name of an influential artist. While we didn’t find any original Mondrian works here, we did find plenty of style courtesy of Marcel Wanders, a fellow Dutch artist with, as you’ll discover here, plenty of influence of his own.

The visual power of Mondrian Miami is bound to become a huge part of your entire Miami Beach vacation. The custom furnishings, the huge windows, the use of simplicity and boldness to highlight the ever-present Biscayne Bay outside make up an unforgettable atmosphere. That holds true for all kinds of Miami getaways. The pool area has the same style with plenty of little nods to romance – the secret pathways and “kissing corners” will need no introduction for couples. Yet if you bring the family, you won’t be disappointed. There’s a separate area with a kid’s pool, play areas and toy rooms. We could call it the ultimate blend of form with function, or comment on the dramas created by the design elements. Or, we could just say – we couldn’t complete our Top 10 without including Mondrian Miami!

From Miami International Airport, take the ramp toward South Le Jeune/SR-953/SR-836 West/ Coral Gables. Merge onto NW 42nd Avenue toward SR-836 East and take the FL-836 East exit toward I-95 downtown. Merge onto I-395 East. After I-395 turns into MacArthur Causeway, take the Alton Road exit and make a slight right onto Alton Road. Turn left onto 11th Street and right on West Avenue. Mondrian South Beach is located at 1100 West Avenue.
