Regardless of the time of year, a family vacation to the Nopiming Lodges with stick in your kids’ minds like an explorer in quicksand. That is to say, it’s such a blast that they won’t be able to forget it!

The most popular season to visit is summer, and for good reason. They’re filled with fishing, hiking, mountain biking, boating, canoeing and sunbathing, all while being only feet away from your exquisitely comfortable abode. They paint a tempting picture on their website, saying “Imagine yourself laying back and soaking up those summer rays, on our beautiful natural sandy beach surrounded by pristine wilderness filled with wildlife and miles of untouched forest situated on one of Manitoba's most beautiful lakes”. Meanwhile, in the winter you’ll be cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoe hiking through miles of trails, then returning to a crackling fire and a mug of hot cocoa.

Although it possesses quite the intimidating name (a la the film classic Jaws), the Great White North Wilderness Lodges are nothing to be afraid of. In fact, they should be embraced with all the gusto typically reserved for a tropical island vacation (if not more!).

All three of the Lodges possess their own charms and comforts. However, its Manitoba-based lodge, The Kaska Goose Lodge, will be the one that Manitoba-bound vacationers will stay at, and it's perhaps the most adventurous. While families with younger children might want to look elsewhere, the slightly older will have a blast (pardon the pun) at this hunting-friendly lodge. With plenty of varieties of geese ( including snow, blue, Ross and Canadian), ptarmigan, and a variety of ducks in the area, should you prove yourself worthy you'll be eating like kings!
