The 40-suite resort clings to the edge of East Gros Ventre Butte, some 2,135 meters (7,000 feet) above sea level and far above the valley town of Jackson. Amangani is located within Spring Creek Ranch, a 405-hectare (1,000-acre) wildlife area protecting the migratory corridors and critical winter habitat for deer, moose, elk and other wildlife. The resort looks out on the youngest of the Rocky Mountains, the Teton Range, which extends for about 65 kilometers (40 miles) west and northwest of the resort. Indeed, Amangani is surrounded by mountains. The "Hole" in Jackson Hole was used in pioneering days to describe a valley rimmed by mountain. And Amangani finds its peaceful place at the southern edge of this extensive alpine valley. Amangani embraces Grand Teton National Park and is the southern gateway to Yellowstone National Park, less than 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the town of Jackson.
