In 1867, an immigrant from Switerland by the name of Louis Fauchere purchased a saloon in Milford, Pennsylvania. Over the next three decades, his innovative cuisine and stylish inn keeping became a hit in Pike County. He would expand the building before passing the hotel onto his daughter a year before his death in 1893. The hotel remained in the family until 1976.
