A member of the Historic Hotels of America, the Renaissance Cleveland Hotel was built in 1918 as part of a master plan for a downtown railroad terminal and a vast Terminal Tower Complex. A white brick, neoclassical building in the Beaux Arts tradition, the hotel was designed in an "E" shape to allow maximum natural lighting in all rooms. Excellent craftsmanship distinguishes the hotel; the façade is embellished with multiple cast-stone details, balustrades, ornamentation, and bronze canopies. An ambitious $40 million renovation has returned the hotel to its original grandeur.
