The Des Moines River is a 100-mile water trail that starts in Fort Dodge and winds through Dolliver State Park and rural recreation areas, takes you through city parks, downtown Des Moines and ends near Carlisle. This water trail is perfect for catching a diverse mix of walleye, white bass, hybrid striped bass, and flathead and channel catfish below riffles and low-head dams. February to March are prime fishing months.
