The Casa Monica hotel was originally built by Bostonian architect Franklin W. Smith and opened on January 1, 1888. Four months after opening, this incredible hotel was purchased by railroad magnet Henry Flagler. Since then, it has changed owners and names and at one time was the St. Johns County Courthouse. It has since been restored to its original name and grandeur.
