The Camellia Inn was built in 1871 by contractor William H. Middleton. It was originally the home of pioneer Ransome Powell in 1871, who was a tailor before fighting in the Mexican War. Powell later sold the home to Dr. J.W. Seawell in 1908, who established the first Healdsburg hospital in the east wing of the home and it was a five-room sanitarium, called Healdsburg General. The Seawell family continued to own the home even after the hospital moved out of the home to another location, until Ray and Delmas Lewand purchased the home in 1981. Now, the inn welcomes all kinds of guests looking for a little getaway. Come experience this historic destination for yourself!
