As the calendar rolls on and the harvest moon has risen to fall, the chill of fall stalls like an engine, and in Cannon Beach, Oregon, the waves build off the wild seas and cloud-cover looms its way to shore. It is about this time, when the calendar reads November, when the Cannon Beach Chamber of Commerce and the Cannon Beach Gallery Group commence with the Story Weather Arts Festival. During the first weekend of November for the last 26 years, artists have gathered to celebrate and share their diverse talents.

  • November 1-3, 2013
  • 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The festival features an art walk, more than ten art galleries, photography exhibits, and receptions for those demonstrating their works. This year, visit for a look into Georgia Gerber’s bronze wildlife sculptures, which are displayed around Seattle and Portland. Also, Michelle Kaptur from Icefire Glassworks will present glass blowing. Beholding the creations of talented artists in the festival’s many galleries is not the only treasure to be seen. Friday night, reserve your ticket for the quick draw demonstration and auction. For one hour, an artist creates a finished work right before your eyes. And, Saturday night, award-winning Curtis Salgado will generate a blues performance in the Coaster Theatre that you won’t want to miss.
