When travelers are searching for the best of the best, the “Ritz Carlton of Cabins” or the Rocky Mountain Relaxation experience, there’s only one place they turn: O-Bar-O Cabins. O-Bar-O Cabins is nestled along the river in the tall pines synonymous with the Rocky Mountains. Not only aesthetically striking, they are also located in one of the most beautiful parts of Colorado. Add in the incredible personal service provided by their friendly staff, and O-Bar-O Cabins are some of the best cabins in the Centennial State.
If rest and relaxation is what you crave, O-Bar-O says, “Never fear!” Based within the borders of San Juan National Forest, you’d be hard pressed to find a more peaceful natural setting in all of Colorado. The nearby alpine meadows are rife with deer, elk, and more, while the cool mountain springs present a glorious opportunity to try your hand at fly-fishing.
If you just want to stretch out and enjoy some “you-time,” O-Bar-O provides an environment that makes that a cinch. "Our goal is to make every guest’s stay all about their experience. We want our guests to feel at home, relaxed and fully enjoy what our little slice of heaven has to offer. It's important to return to the real world relaxed and pampered!" Owner Maria McGinley says.
Adventure seekers will jump at the opportunity to explore thousands of hiking trails, including the Colorado Trail, while history buffs head to Mesa Verde National Park, home to some of the best preserved Ancestral Puebloan archaeological sites in the United States. The outdoor adventure possibilities are simply endless.
The Florida River is approximately twenty steps away from each cabin, and O-Bar-O encourages you to take advantage of the river that is just steps from your cabin and wet a line. "We are converting one guest at a time to fly-fishing. It starts out with a lesson and rental right on the river. Before you know it they are purchasing their own equipment and are hooked, figuratively and literally," says owner Mike McGinley. While all fishing is catch-and-release, cameras are always welcome. You need some proof of the huge trout you catch, after all!
As for the cabins themselves, they retain a rustic old-world charm while simultaneously keeping a modern edge. The first of the cabins were built in the 1930's with the last two built in the 1990's. Some of the cabins might be more vintage than others, but that is all part of the charm! All have been renovated and filled with amenities that reflect the modern comforts you’d expect on a luxury vacation. Those amenities include well equipped kitchens, flat-screen TVs with satellite, and gas grills, just to name a few. You'll have that Rocky Mountain rustic experience without roughing it.
O-Bar-O Cabins is truly in a league of its own, and the experience doesn’t stop with the accommodations. From the friendly staff to the bevy of outdoor activities to enjoy, you simply won’t find a better, more relaxing cabin getaway experience in Southwest Colorado. Relaxation has an address...at O-Bar-O Cabins.
